Notes: Considered Shunsen's masterpiece in his venture into the female Bijin-e design. He printed only 150 first state examples; showcasing the impression with a beautiful mica overprinted background.
Scarce in this condition and state.
Shunsen studied nihonga and oil painting in Tokyo. In 1915 he began designing prints of actors which were published by Watanabe. The prints were offered by subscription in limited editions of 150. In 1928, Shunsen created his only bijin-ga, three prints, again published be Watanabe in a numbered edition of 150. All three are illustrated in The Female Image.
