The original rain scene depicts a lone woman in the foreground, hunched beneath a large umbrella, heading home through the rain, walking past large disused timber-built inns lining the wide road, against the dramatic backdrop of Kiso Valley.
This c.1950s painting exhibits a lifetime accumulation of artistic techniques, styles, and influences by one of modern Japan's most important and prolific artists.
