Notes: At Miya Station, a town that grew by the Shintō shrine Atsuta Jingū, a ritual occurred on the fifth day of the fifth month of the lunar calendar. Called Tango no Uma no Tō, the day featured the running of horses. This print depicts two teams rushing past the torii gate of the shrine. The scene of the horses pulling forward amid the vigorous shouts of the men is filled with lively movement and energy.
