Hasui, Kawase (1883 – 1957), “Kawanishi, Tochigi Prefecture”

Notes: 6mm circular seal; as issued. Provenance: Irwin J. Pachter Collection. First exhibited at the Everson Museum of Art in Syracuse, NY, in 1986 – and the collection hasn’t appeared publicly since. The collection attests to Pachter’s keen eye, his understanding of the shin hanga print and its technical innovations, and his discipline in selecting prints in the best condition. The village of Kawanishi is located on the banks of the Naka river in Tochigi prefecture.
