Specializing in rare 18th - 20th Century Japanese Woodblock Prints
Born in 1906, Sasajima graduated for the Aoyama Normal School in 1927. A close friend of Hamada Shoji, he studied independently with Hiratsuka Un'ichi in 1935 and Munakata Shiko in 1936. Their bold, black and white images greatly influenced his work. Exhibited with numerous print societies, and overseas, including Sao Paulo. His works display deep embossing made by forcing damp paper into the grooves of a carved woodblock under pressure.
