A rare state of Hasui's Zojoji Temple, Shiba. This slightly smaller aiban size edition was only included in the 1934 issue of JAPAN TODAY & TOMORROW published by The Osaka Mainichi, 1934. 184 total pages. The example is still tipped to the original black matte, with tissue overlay stating: "The painting is by Hasui Kawase of the Kiyokata Kaburaki school. He is skilled in wood cuts and has specialized in that particular branch of art. Published by the Watanabe shop in Ginza, Tokyo."
Narazaki states that, "This is a masterpiece within Hasui's oeuvre, and no other by him received as much praise".
