Notes: Exceedingly scarce and early pre-earthquake design (Hotei #7) by the artist.
This is Tama river, which flows by the site of the historic Yaguchi ferry. The sky is pictured low in the horizon , and the distance is blurred in indigo blue. The grass meadow, damp with mist, looks just like velvet. A jarifune [gravel boat], is being pulled by two men, along the shore of the Tama riverbank.
Provenance: Fresh to market. Part of a single family collection, that was properly stored in California since the 1930s.
