Narazaki comments that 'Visible through several red pines and verdant hills on the opposite bank is the blue water of the Ōi river. This composition has been done once before by Hasui, but this design is new because it is a spring scene with flowers. With the exception of the pleasure boat on an outing, there is no other shadow or form on the wide expanse of water'. - Hotei Vol. 1; pg. 98
