Notes: Not to be confused with the later 1955 edition (Hotei #605) of a very similar design. This is the first example of this particular image; created in a slightly larger format than the regular oban size. Many aspects of this print were revised or removed in the later impression.
In Narazaki's mind, 'The bare trees positioned across the foreground plane in this toku-oban [special or oversized oban format] demonstrate a new approach by Hasui towards form and block-cutting. The castle and moat can be seen behind the tress and hazy sunlight'. - Hotei Vol. 1; pg. 103
