Yoshida, Hiroshi (1876 - 1950), "Sailing Boats - Night (Pre-Earthquake)"
|Title||Sailing Boats - Night (Pre-Earthquake)|
|Medium||Original Japanese Woodblock Print|
|Series Title||Sailing Boats in the Inland Sea - 1921 First Series|
|Edition||First and only.|
|Publisher||The Artist - Privately Published|
|Reference No||Abe catalog, page 36|
|Size||17 -3/4 x 13 " (Large Oban)|
Notes: Exceedingly rare. The Great Kanto Earthquake destroyed all of the woodblocks and most of the prints kept in Watanabe's store.
As with all the variations of the 1921 sailing boat design, the size is slightly smaller than the later re-cut impressions that were completed as six double-oban size variations in 1926. Interestingly enough, this example is also an unsigned impression like Abe #4, "Morning Sunlight".
