Hasui, Kawase (1883 – 1957), “Morning at Mihogaseki”

Notes: Displays much brighter colors than the example illustrated in Hotei. Accompanied by the original, titled folder. Provenance: Purchased from S. H. Mori in Chicago, mid-1930s. Three generations in an American family collection. Mihogaseki is in north-eastern Shimane Prefecture, and before the Meiji Period (1868-1912) it was an important regional center. Today it is part of the Daisen-Oki National Park.
