Hasui, Kawase (1883 – 1957), “Tagonoura Bridge”

Notes: Narazaki muses: 'The encroaching darkness, a sudden gust of wind, clouds swollen with rain, ripples on the water's surface and the swaying grasses and leaves - a feeling that Mount Fuji will be hidden suddenly by storm clouds'. The Tagonoura bridge is in Shizuoka prefecture near the mouth of the Fuji river, and affords a spectacular view of Mount Fuji. - Hotei Vol. 1 Provenance: The collection was initially purchased directly from S. Watanabe print shop in the mid-1940's and has always been properly stored away. The majority of the collection showcases rarely seen MINT colors; several far exceeding numerous examples seen in prior collections.
