Hasui, Kawase (1883 – 1957), “Wisteria at Kameido”

Notes: A small amount of remnants remain on the top reverse corners from being displayed at the Toledo Museum Exhibition. A seldom seen design by the artist, that was never sold with a Watanabe publisher's seal. This example was exhibited at the 1936 Toledo Museum Exhibition. Included, is the Toledo Museum folder, note card with title and description of print. Museum pencil notation l.r. of print, "14" signifies this design was the fourteenth Hasui work included in the 1936 Exhibition. It was one of a handful of prints that originated from the Exhibition and later stored in a single private collection.
