Toshi Yoshida, Irozaki, Morning – Day – Afternoon Complete Set

Notes: Displays superior colors to the examples in Yoshida Hanga Collection. Pencil signed and titled by the artist. Like the series on Mountains in 1962, Toshi created a different series based on the time-of-day a year earlier. Irozaki was printed with a morning, day and afternoon/evening version. Sets of time-of-day prints like these had been a favorite concept for Toshi's father. The idea in Toshi's hands, however, shows the difference between father and son. Toshi's choice of strong, bold colors is apparent. Through these designs, Toshi continued to use his father's favorite subjects, but treated them in an entirely different light. Provenance: From a private collection. For the past 30 years the prints were properly stored away; never being framed or displayed. The majority of the collection showcases rarely seen MINT colors; several far exceeding numerous examples seen in prior collections.
