Narazaki notes, 'Although this piece might seem quite ordinary, it is a masterpiece in its striking composition. One section of a corridor is viewed from the side, the light and dark of the pillars and eaves are shown with superb results. The reflections of the trees and temple quiver on the surface of the lotus pond. Even the bright color of the parched grass can be seen to heighten the overall of effect of the design.'
