Notes: In this impressive vertical design, the Fuji River winds its way between tall mountains and eventually flowing into the Suruga Bay. Both the perspective and the diptych format of this print give the composition something of the appearance of a scroll painting. Even the shapes of the rocks evoke Chinese and Japanese paintings on literary subjects. However, the bokashi extending from the upper edge of the image and the depiction of the river belong exclusively to the world of printmaking.
