This composition depicts the grand gateway of Ninna-ji Temple in Kyoto during the spring season. The location is historically celebrated for its late-blooming Omuro cherry blossom trees. The image portrays visitors in traditional kimonos strolling past the low-spreading, vibrant cherry blossoms, juxtaposed against the enduring, rustic wood architecture of the temple gates. Typical of Yoshida's work, it beautifully blends traditional Japanese ukiyo-e woodblock techniques with Western realism, showing a sophisticated mastery over light, perspective, and seasonal atmosphere.
