Narazaki notes, 'This scene of a row of houses in the peaceful seaport of Ebisu, Sado is overpowered by the growing darkness and unrelenting snowfall. The work is skilfully executed; evidenced by the varied treatment of the snowflakes as they fall and melt on the surface of the water'.
