Hasui, Kawase (1883 – 1957), “Lake Haruna, Spring (Ono Gintaro Seal)”

Notes: A superbly executed design, displaying mint colors throughout. A seldom seen state, not shown in Hotei. The seal of the block-cutter, Ono Gintaro in the right margin. For cataloging purposes, we list this impression as: #359b. In addition to working with a number of publishers throughout his career Hasui also collaborated with many printers and carvers, whose skills were indispensable to the printmaking process and to the successful completion of a print. In particular, Hasui is known to have a close working relationship with one of Watanabe's printers, Ono Gintaro, who principally oversaw the printing of the artist's works. Hasui mentions him frequently in his diary, referring to him affectionately as 'Ginchan'.
