Ito Shinsui, Enjoying the Evening Cool (First State)

Notes: First state example; RARE. This print was part of a collaborative series of woodblock prints issued by the publisher Isetatsu (Hirose Tasugoro) comprised of five sets of two prints, each set pairing a landscape by Hasui with an image of a beauty designed by Ito Shinsui (1898-1972), for a total of ten works. It was the first time Hasui worked with a different publisher than Watanabe Shozaburo.
